Connor

Engineering Technical Manager

Connor’s career with Nexus has gone from strength to strength since starting his apprenticeship with us.

He studied an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship and was successful in getting a permanent job with us, working in electrical maintenance teams looking after lifts, escalators and substations.

His dreams of going to university also came true, as we supported Connor in studying for a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

He said “Nexus couldn’t have been more supportive, right from the start. They really invest in their employees, and I always feel like my contribution is valued and recognised. Even after my apprenticeship and my degree, the opportunities and support for further development have been constant.”

Connor was later promoted to Engineering Technical Manager and has gone on to train for more specialist qualifications.

“All you need to be successful in an apprenticeship is a willingness to learn and be part of a team, you’ll be taught everything else, learning much more on-the-job than you would in a classroom.” Connor said “And as well as the technical skills, the life skills are invaluable.  I learned to be more responsible, more independent, and earned some money which is important when you’re 18!”
