Bus stop suspension terms and conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the temporary suspension or relocation of bus stops maintained by Nexus on behalf of the following local authority areas:

• North Tyneside
• South Tyneside
• Gateshead
• Newcastle City
• Sunderland City

Nexus will operate on behalf of the requestor—typically contractors or service providers requiring street works.

2. Scope of Services

Upon request, Nexus will provide the following services:

• Production and posting of customer information notices regarding the bus stop suspension.
• Planning and implementation of alternative bus stops.
• Liaison and communication with relevant bus operators.
• Restoration of the bus stop to normal service upon completion of the works.

3. Requestor Responsibilities

The requestor must provide Nexus with:

• Sufficient notice of the need for bus stop suspension.
• Necessary information regarding the nature and duration of the street works.
• Access to the site for planning and operational purposes.
• Invoice details, including name, address, and any applicable reference numbers.

4. Charges and Payment

• Nexus will charge the requestor based on a predetermined schedule of rates.

• Payment is due upon completion of the works and restoration of the bus stop.
• Invoices must be settled within 30 days of receipt.

5. Duration of Suspension

The suspension will last for the duration specified by the requestor, subject to Nexus’s operational constraints. Nexus will aim to minimise disruption to the travelling public.

6. Communication

Nexus will ensure timely communication with affected parties, including:

• Posting notices at the affected bus stops.
• Providing updates to local bus operators and the public.

7. Liability

• Nexus will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the suspension.
• The requestor agrees to indemnify Nexus against any claims or costs arising from the requestor’s works.

8. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

9. Amendments

Nexus reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Amendments will be communicated to the requestor in writing.

10. Acceptance

By requesting the temporary suspension of a bus stop, the requestor agrees to these Terms and Conditions in their entirety.
