It’s an exciting time to join our Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (QHSSE) team as we continue our transformation journey. As Risk and Resilience Business Partner reporting to the Risk Manager, you will have a dual role to provide support and guidance in relation to our Risk and Opportunities framework and Organisational Resilience framework across Nexus. You will support all areas of Nexus with their risk and resilience planning and ensure these plans are assessed, up to date and effectively communicated within Nexus. In addition, you will support in ensuring Nexus’ compliance with legislation, regulation, and industry standards are best practice. You will support the Risk Manager and Organisational Resilience manager in the development and continuous improvement of Nexus’ relevant management frameworks and management systems.  You will be part of a high performing team, delivering ambitious plans that really make a difference to our people, our customers and our region. 

 
Typical Day 
 
  • Meeting with stakeholders to review key business risks and resilience priorities.
  • Updating and maintaining corporate and departmental risk registers. 
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of business continuity and emergency response exercises. 
  • Analysing performance data and preparing reports for governance groups and senior management. 
  • Providing guidance on risk, resilience and compliance requirements to teams across the organisation. 
  • Assisting with the development of policies, procedures and improvement initiatives. 
  • Collaborating with colleagues in QHSSE to promote a culture of continuous improvement and organisational resilience. 
About You
 
  • Risk and/or Resilience qualification at level 5 or higher, or equivalent or equivalent demonstrable work experience in a related field. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of risk and resilience principles, including relevant legislation and regulations. 
  • Ability to meet the medical fitness standards required for Personal Track Safety (PTS). 
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. 
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a commitment to supporting varying workloads, locations and working hours. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general IT systems. 
  • Experience of supporting compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements across diverse industries, including rail, road, maritime and infrastructure sectors.
