All aboard

We are committed to making travel easier and more inclusive.

Welcome aboard

We're looking out for you

We want people to feel safe when they are travelling by bus, and waiting at interchanges or bus stops.

We have:

  • CCTV in bus shelters across Tyne & Wear and are investing in new Wi-Fi units this year
  • CCTV in our major interchanges and are investing further putting new systems in at Heworth, Jarrow, Concord, South Shields and Park Lane this year
  • Dedicated security teams working at major interchanges until late at night to ensure passengers feel safe
  • An exclusion order policy in place and take steps to ban individuals who are abusive to staff or other passengers and
  • We are working with the police and community safety officers to target areas where there are problems

Autism Friendly

We have received the Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society for our work in supporting people with autism when they travel with us.

We know that travelling can be stressful at times, and this can especially be the case for neurodiverse people.

Our guide can be used to help prepare you or someone you travel with for their journey on buses.

Additional support

Bridge Cards

If you need additional support when you’re travelling, you can use a Bridge Card, which tells transport staff what they can help you with.

If you have difficulty using public transport because of age, disability, illness, or you simply lack confidence, you can carry a Bridge Card.

When you show the card to transport staff they will recognise that you may need extra help during your journey. You don’t have to register for the scheme. You just have to carry a card and show it to transport staff if you need help.
