Shields Ferry timetable resumes from Monday 20 July

Early and late crossings to return
Shields Ferry timetable resumes from Monday 20 July
The Shields Ferry will return to its full timetable from Monday 20 July, following a temporary reduced service due to crew availability.

We have worked hard to address the issue, and three new members of crew have been taken on.

From Monday 20 July, the first weekday and Saturday crossings from South Shields will now leave at 6.45am, instead of 7.15am.

Evening journeys will also return to their full normal timetable that week, operating until 8pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, 10.50pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 6pm on Sundays.

Full timetables for both North Shields and South Shields ferry landings can be found on the new Travel North East website. The website also contains information on Shields Ferry ticketing, Kids Go Free, onward travel and more.

John Souter, Head of Customer Service Operations at Nexus, said: “I’m pleased to confirm that we can restore the full Shields Ferry timetable from Monday 20 July.

“We’ve worked hard to resolve our issue with crew availability due to sickness. Three new members of staff have been in training and joined our roster. This significantly strengthens our crew resource.

“We’re grateful to customers for their patience while services have been affected.”
